Sometimes, a <strong>strap change<\/strong> can give your favorite watch a new lease on life and change its style. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You might be wondering how to change a watch strap? This article guides you through the essential steps to successfully complete this task, using a few watchmaking tools and following practical advice. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preparation: what you need<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before you begin, take the time to gather the various items needed to change your watch strap. This includes specific tools as well as the new strap you wish to install. Here is the list of what you will need:  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A suitable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohselection.com\/outils-horlogers\/\">watchmaking tool<\/a> (often called a &#8220;spring bar tool&#8221;)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohselection.com\/bracelets-de-montres\/\">watch strap<\/a>, which you can purchase from OH Selection from our wide range of leather, NATO, and other straps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A clean and well-lit workspace, such as a desk or table<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>watchmaking tool<\/strong> is essential because it allows you to remove the spring bars (or <strong>pins<\/strong>) that hold the strap in place on the <strong>watch lugs<\/strong>. They are generally situated between the <strong>watch lugs<\/strong>. By looking closely, you will see the small metal bars that keep the strap attached to the watch case.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Note that on some watches, often recent ones, there are different strap attachment systems that do not use spring bars.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Use the watchmaking tool<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using your <strong>watchmaking tool<\/strong>, gently push on one end of the <strong>spring bar<\/strong>. Do this carefully to release the end caught in the watch lug without scratching the case. When you feel the bar is compressed, gently remove the other end from the lug. In some cases, particularly for metal watch bracelets, there are screws protecting the spring bars.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Repeat this process on the other side of the watch to completely remove the strap. Take care not to lose the small <strong>spring bars<\/strong>, as they will be needed to attach the new strap. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are also interchangeable pin systems or <strong>quick-release<\/strong> systems; in these cases, no tools are necessary to change your strap. Simply press down to release one side of the bar. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Install the new strap<\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preparing the new strap<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Buying a replacement strap can be an exciting adventure, especially with all the available options. Whether you choose a <strong>metal bracelet<\/strong>, a <strong>leather strap<\/strong>, or an interchangeable model, ensure it is compatible with your watch in terms of width and style. Today, many modern straps offer a <strong>quick-release<\/strong> system, also known as <strong>quick-release<\/strong>, which makes installation much easier.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Insert the spring bars<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take the <strong>spring bars<\/strong> you set aside and insert them into the loops at the ends of the new strap. Ensure the bars are properly positioned and symmetrical before moving to the next step. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Attaching to the watch<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To attach the new strap, start by inserting one end of the <strong>spring bar<\/strong> into the hole of one of the <strong>watch lugs<\/strong>. Then, use the <strong>watchmaking tool<\/strong> to compress the other end so that it can be inserted into the opposite lug hole. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Check that the <strong>spring bar<\/strong> is securely in place by gently pulling on the strap. Repeat these steps for the other part of the strap. If your strap has a <strong>deployment clasp<\/strong>, also ensure that it functions correctly and fits your wrist well.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why choose a quick-release system?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many new strap models now adopt the <strong>quick-release<\/strong> mechanism.
