Their avant-garde and minimalist design, along with their features, make these products ideal watch accessories. Their rotation capacity is optimal, as is their ease of use. They feature an adjustable cushion to accommodate all your watches. OH Selection offers several colors for your enjoyment!
What is a watch winder?
Owning an automatic watch that is not worn daily requires a certain technical organization to prevent the mechanism from falling dormant at the bottom of a safe.
Simulating the natural movement of the wrist
The oscillating weight plays a central role. This component rotates with your daily movements, recharging the mainspring to provide the necessary energy.

The watch winder takes over when the watch is at rest. Its mechanical rotation maintains constant tension in the mechanism, preventing the movement from stopping completely. This perfectly simulates daily wear on the wrist.

For collectors, this offers enhanced convenience. Your various timepieces remain ready for immediate use.

No need to shake the item in the morning. The mechanism is already under optimal pressure to function.
Preserving the settings of horological complications
Perpetual calendars are a chore to set manually. A moon phase also requires extreme precision during setup. The watch winder keeps this data up to date, thus avoiding tedious and risky manipulations.

Regular movement prevents the internal oils from gumming up. Lubricants remain fluid and well-distributed within the caliber. This is a life insurance for your timepiece.

A running motor prevents premature wear of the crowns, limiting repeated case openings for adjustments.

The time saved each morning is precious. Your watch displays the exact time, without any effort on your part.
How to choose your watch winder?
Once the utility is understood, it is necessary to delve into the pure technical aspects, as not all rotating cases are equally suitable for your mechanical timepiece.
Checking the rotation direction and TPD
The number of turns per day, or TPD, is crucial. Each caliber has its own energy requirements. A setting that is too low will not suffice.

The direction of rotation varies depending on the model. Some rotate clockwise, others counter-clockwise. Bidirectional models offer the greatest versatility. Always check the technical specifications of your watch movement.

An incorrect program can unnecessarily strain the spring. The goal is to balance charge and rest. Good devices offer intermittent cycles.

Adjust the frequency to respect the power reserve. This is the secret to healthy winding.
Require a silent and robust motor
Noise is the collector’s primary enemy. A low-end motor often ends up grinding. Opt for reputable Japanese or German motors.

Ball bearings outperform belt drives. They are more durable and much more discreet. This is essential if the item is placed in your bedroom. Complete silence is required at night.

Mechanical reliability guarantees years of use. A robust motor does not falter under weight. Choose quality to protect your investment.

Vibrations must be non-existent to avoid disturbance. A good base absorbs micro-shocks.
Quality criteria for your storage space
Beyond the motor, the case itself acts as an aesthetic and technical shield for your luxury timepieces.
Opting for durable and aesthetic materials
Lacquered wood adds an undeniable touch of nobility. Leather offers soft protection against scratches. Aluminum appeals with its modern appearance.

The aesthetic design allows you to showcase your collection. It serves as a true display for your most beautiful timepieces. Transparent display cases offer an unobstructed view. The design should integrate seamlessly with your interior.

Consider large-diameter watches. The supports must accommodate heavy straps without tipping. Overall stability is a major criterion.

A microfiber interior prevents any marks on the steel. Attention to detail makes all the difference.
Isolating the movement from magnetic fields
Electric motors generate magnetic fields. These waves can disrupt your watch’s hairspring. Magnetization completely falsifies timekeeping precision. This is an invisible but very real risk.

High-end models incorporate specific shielding. This protection isolates the watch from electrical currents. This is a non-negotiable technical point.

Mains power is practical for fixed use. Batteries are preferable for safe storage. Choose according to your usual storage method.

Good shielding reassures the demanding owner. Your mechanism remains protected from disturbances.
